Beyond The Dark Bayou is the heartbreaking yet inspirational true story of John and Alice Ball and their family.  Set in the Louisiana lands of magnolias, weeping willows, and Spanish moss, Beyond The Dark Bayou retells the almost Biblical tale of how a young family with a beautiful, promising life ahead of them suddenly faced catastrophic hardships and an endless chain of medical nightmares, but persevered throughout it all, guided by spiritual inspiration.

Alice and John Ball were a newly married couple with a strong love for each other, high hopes for their future and a deep faith in God.

Alice's survival was through forgiveness and claiming God's peace and a sound mind instead of allowing fear and anger to control her. It took a lot of soul-searching and prayer to forgive the malpractice caused from impure water entering her husband's body through dialysis causing Alheizmer's symptoms.  These symptoms were treated with Dilantin and Valium.  After a kidney transplant, the symptoms got worse causing much suffering.

This spiritual journey will encourage you if you are going through the valley.

Quote from Beyond The Dark Bayou: (back to top)

“There are many good doctors and modern health care and hospitals have saved many lives.  It is not only a patient’s right, it is their responsibility, to be actively involved in their medical care.  I recommend learning as much as you can about your medical condition and treatment from whatever source possible, including the internet and local library.”
